When you should use PRG Application?
First, check if the computer on which you intend to use this application meets all these prerequisites.
Requirements:
- Java virtual machine (JVM) installed. See here or here
- Standard keyboard
- Computer monitor must support Full-Screen Exclusive Mode (the vast majority of monitors support it)
PRG is an acronym for Psychophysical Research Generator. This does not mean that this application can only be used to create Psychophysics researches.
PRG application is primarily intended for running research models on non-real-time operating systems and computer hardware of lower or medium quality. Of course, the use of high-quality computer hardware is always welcome.
The dependent variables in the PRG application are the reaction time (ms) and the number of points (0 or 1).
This application allows the creation of research models with the following features:
- number of reactions 1 (simple reaction time) to a maximum of 10 (choice reaction time)
- reactions of participants are exclusively using the keyboard
- each used reaction consists of 1..N stimuli
- each stimulus consists of 1..N files located on your computer
- Supported file formats are: jpg | jpeg | png | gif | bmp | wbmp | wav | wave
- only one file within each stimulus can trigger a time trigger ("turn on the stopwatch"). This file does not have to be the last one within the stimulus
- image files use sequential playback (one after another, serial). Audio files can be played simultaneously (at the same time, parallel)
- a significant number of different settings can be defined separately for each image or audio file (see help for details)
- a significant number of settings can be defined for all stimuli at the level of the entire research model
