Image File

This file is trigger (t=0)

Check this checkbox if you want this file to be the time trigger for this stimulus. If this file is marked as a time trigger, the moment the playback of this file starts, the time will start to be measured ("the stopwatch starts"). This app defaults to setting a timed trigger on each LAST running file within the stimulus. See the Timeline tab. In principle, you don't need to worry about triggers except in 2 cases:

Only one file within each stimulus can start the time trigger. If you do not explicitly set a time trigger, the application will automatically set the default time trigger for the file that is played last within the stimulus.

This application enables parallel playback of multiple audio-image files. Parallel playback = two or more files start at the same point in time. If you use parallel playback, then you need to explicitly mark which file is the trigger. Mainly due to the delay of the non-real-time operating system, minor differences in the playback start of 2 or more files are always possible, even though they have the same playback start time set. If the image file and the audio file start at exactly the same time, and both are last within the stimulus, then the audio file takes precedence over the image file, ie the audio file will be set as the trigger.

Time duration of displaying the image file (ms):

Here you enter how long the image file will be displayed on the screen. Time units are milliseconds. If you mark the associated Set as default checkbox, the next time you insert a new image file into the Stimuli List, its display time will have this default value. Note that if Autocorrection is turned on, your selected value, as well as the Set as default value, may not be accepted. Click on the Calc button to see how autocorrect works.

Set default value for Auto-Correction:

Here you can enable or disable Autocorrection for displaying images (it only works for visual stimuli). If Autocorrection is on, the display time of images on the screen is adjusted to the currently selected Refresh rate of the computer monitor. Click on the Calc button to see how autocorrect works. Autocorrection is a global setting, i.e. autocorrection works for all visual stimuli in the research model. You cannot set it only for selected image files.

Mode for drawing this image file:

Here you determine where this image file will be displayed on the screen (spatial location).

You can choose from these options:

The last 3 options enable a more precise spatial location within certain regions of the screen.

Choose coordinates: Left, Right, Top, Bottom. Allowed range for coordinates: 0-100. The units for these coordinates are the corresponding percentages of the width (height) of the screen resolution.

Example 1. You want to display the selected image file only in the right half of the screen: Choose: Screen area.Resize image.Fit to screen area. You can also choose the last option: Screen area.Resize image.Stretch to screen area, but then the image will be distorted.

Set:

Left = 50

Right = 100

Top = 0

Bottom = 100.

Example 2. You want to display the selected image file only in the lower-left quadrant of the screen (Cartesian coordinate system- Quadrant III).

Set:

Left = 0

Right = 50

Top = 50

Bottom = 100.

Allowed range of values is: 0..100. Right - Left must be >=5

Allowed range of values is: 0..100. Bottom - Top must be >=5

If you choose one of these 2 options:

  1. Resize image.Stretch to screen
  2. Screen area.Resize image.Stretch to screen area

Note that this will cause Image distortion. This effect stretches or compresses your images.

If you do not want to save the changed settings within this dialog, you must explicitly click on the Cancel button when closing this dialog. Closing this dialog with "x" (Close) or Save and Close , automatically saves all (changed) values.

You can display this Dialog Box in one of these 2 ways:

  1. Double click on the desired file in the Stimulus List
  2. Select the desired file in the Stimulus List and click on the Properties button on the Bottom toolbar
